ALLIANCE FOR INDEPENDENCE MOVES TO POSTPONE WINE FESTIVAL OF CENTRAL FLORIDA EVENT 2020

LAKELAND, FLORIDA, MARCH 12, 2020 —Following consultation with the Alliance for Independence leadership and experts within our state, the organization has made the decision to postpone tomorrow’s Wine Festival of Central Florida event, effective immediately. “We understand that months of planning has gone into this annual event and we appreciate our sponsors, vendors and participants support of our decision,” states Katie Tinsley, president and CEO of Alliance for Independence, “The AFI leadership and board of directors take the safety and health of our event participants, staff and community very seriously.”

“We did not make this decision without much debate and deliberation. We are following the lead of legislative, medical and government professionals who are in close contact with state and national public health officials,” Bart Ross, chairman of the board for Alliance for Independence, stated. “They have advised us that while the risk to the community is low and there are no reported cases currently in our community, we urge everyone to follow the guidelines and protocols put forth by local and national public health officials.”

The Wine Festival of Central Florida planning committee, Alliance for Independence board of directors and leadership team will be working on rescheduling strategies to best accommodate the vendors, sponsors and attendees once the current public safety and health advisories have been lifted.
